About

Apoliums is a software and AI engineering company in Indore, India. Since 2018 we have designed, built and maintained web applications, SaaS platforms, mobile apps and automation for companies who need working software rather than a prototype.

Who we are

A small engineering team that stays on the work after it ships.

Apoliums began in 2018. The people who started it had spent years running software projects and building development teams, and had watched the same pattern repeat: the client described the business, an account manager described it again, and the engineers built what survived the second telling.

So the company was set up without that middle layer. You brief the engineers who will build it. They tell you what is hard, what is cheap, and what the second version will cost before the first one is written.

We work across web applications, SaaS platforms, mobile apps, and the AI systems that increasingly sit inside them. The common thread is systems that people use every working day — where uptime, data integrity and the cost of a change matter more than the launch.

What we believe

Six positions that decide how we build.

  • Software is a running cost, not a delivery

A build that cannot be maintained by someone who did not write it is unfinished. We write for the person who takes it over — readable modules, real names, and the reasoning recorded where the decision lives.

  • The requirement is usually not the problem

Most briefs describe a solution someone already picked. We ask what the business is trying to change before we agree what to build, and we say so when the cheaper answer is not a new system.

  • Estimates are commitments

We would rather scope smaller and hit it than scope wide and negotiate later. If a number moves, you hear it in the week it moves, with the reason attached.

  • Working software beats a status update

You see a running environment early and keep seeing it. Progress is something you can click, not a percentage on a slide.

  • Boring technology, deliberately

We pick tools with long support horizons and large hiring pools. A framework that is exciting this year and unstaffable in three is a liability we hand to you.

  • Own your system

Code, infrastructure and accounts sit in your organisation from day one. Nothing we build should be hostage to us still being in the picture.

Engineering philosophy

Five habits that keep the second year cheaper than the first.

  1. 01

    Design the data first

Screens change every quarter; the data model outlives all of them. We settle entities, relationships and state transitions before a single component is styled, because a wrong schema is the one mistake refactoring cannot cheaply undo.

  2. 02

    Make failure explicit

Payments, integrations, background jobs and webhooks are treated as retryable and concurrently callable from the start — idempotency keys, unique constraints, timeouts. Half-completed states are designed out, not patched later.

  3. 03

    Ship in vertical slices

One narrow path working end to end — database, API, interface, deploy — beats three layers each 80% done. It gives you something to react to in week two rather than month three.

  4. 04

    Instrument before you optimise

Logs, traces and error reporting go in with the first release. Performance work then targets what is actually slow for real users instead of what feels slow in a review meeting.

  5. 05

    Automate the repeat

Tests, linting, type checks and deploys run on every push. The point is not ceremony — it is that a small change on a Friday is a non-event.

How we work

Short loops, written decisions, no surprises at the end.

The full eight-stage version — discovery through to scaling, with the deliverable and your involvement at each stage — is on the process page.

How we work, in detail
Sticky notes and diagrams on a wall during a planning session
You talk to the engineers
The people writing the code are in the same conversation as the people deciding what it should do. No relay, no rewritten summary of what you said.
One week is the longest silence
A written update and a running environment every week — what moved, what is blocked, what changed in scope.
Scope is a live document
New information changes plans. We record what changed, what it costs and what it displaces, before doing it.

Timeline

Founded 2018. Still in Indore.

  1. 2018

    Apoliums is founded in Indore

Started by a group with experience running projects and assembling development teams, around one idea: give companies direct access to senior engineers rather than to a layer of account management.

  2. Since

From websites to systems people work in

The work moved towards the software a business runs on daily — customer portals, internal tools, multi-tenant platforms and the mobile apps attached to them.

  3. Now

AI as part of the build, not a bolt-on

Retrieval systems, document and workflow automation, and agents wired into software that already exists — designed with the same evaluation and failure-handling discipline as the rest of the stack.
