Apoliums built the Sri Lanka Tennis Association's platform, player and coach registration, tournament listings, national rankings and federation pages, with an Android app covering the same ground.

What was the problem?

SLTA administers tennis nationally: it registers players, accredits coaches, runs tournaments and publishes rankings. Each of those was a separate process with a separate list, and the public site could only ever show whichever list had most recently been sent over.

  • Players, coaches and federation staff are three different audiences with three different reasons to log in.
  • Coach accreditation is a public-interest record, a parent looking for a coach needs the association's list, not a search result.
  • Tournament information and rankings go stale the moment they are maintained separately from the results they come from.
  • Federation governance pages matter to a national body and are the first thing to rot when the site is updated by hand.

How Apoliums approached it.

Give each audience its own login against one shared registry, and generate the public pages from that registry rather than from uploads.

  1. One registry, three doors into it

    Players, coaches and administrators authenticate into the same underlying registry with different permissions, so a coach's accreditation and a player's ranking are two views of one record set.

  2. Make registration self-service

    Registration is an online form that writes directly to the registry. The association stops maintaining a parallel list of people who applied by other means.

  3. Publish rankings from results

    Ranking tables read from recorded tournament results, which removes the step where a table is compiled by hand and then contradicts the draw it came from.

  4. Keep the federation's own pages first-class

    Governance, committees and development programmes are managed content in the same system, so they are updated by the association rather than requested from a developer.

  • Federation pages are maintained by the association rather than by whoever last had site access.
